Principal function
The design, manufacture and supply of pipe hangers, restraints and associated equipment for all types of pipework installations in the industrial, commercial, power generation and petrochemical sectors. Secondary services include site survey and piping analysis combined with the long-term monitoring of piping performance.
Brief History
Pipe Supports Limited was incorporated in 1968 having grown out of her parent company British Industrial Engineering Limited, which was founded in 1944.
For many years British Industrial had manufactured constant and variable effort supports for the power generation industry alongside its major product range of access platforms, ladders, stairways, handrailing and structural steelwork.
Pipe Supports Limited was formed to offer a complete package of pipe hangers and restraints - a range that is now one of the most comprehensive in the world.
In March 1993, Pipe Supports Limited was acquired by Hill & Smith Holdings Plc, a long established publicly quoted engineering company.
In 1994 manufacturing facilities were opened in South Africa and Thailand to enable Pipe Supports Ltd. to offer competitive prices in key world markets.
In 1998 a joint venture was formed with KPE to offer a pipe stress analysis and support design service for Pipe Supports USA Inc.
In 1999:
- Pipe Supports USA Inc was incorporated to add to PSL's global presence and to offer customers manufacturing facilities in the world's four major continents.
- Pipe Supports Malasia SDN BHD was formed further strengthening our presence in Asia.
- A representative office was opened in Singapore.
- Pipe Supports Groups Ltd was formed to act as holding company to all the Pipe Supports Companies.
In 2000:
- A sales office was opened in Tokyo, Japan.
- A joint venture company Pipe Supports India (Pvt) Ltd. was formed in Chennai, India.
In 2001 Alliance agreement signed with Avant-Garde Engineering to provide a pipe stress analysis and support design service for Pipe Supports USA Inc.
In 2002 an Engineering Office was opened in Chennai, India.
Our equipment is designed to meet the requirements of both BS3974 and ANSI MSS- SP58 and we also offer a complete range meeting the design requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section 3, subsection NF.
Our Quality Assurance and Control Systems have been assessed by the Electricity Association Quality Assurance and we are formally approved to the requirements of ISO 9001 2000.
